Chumphon, Thailand
Chumporn is one of the ancient cities of Thailand. It has a long history lasting over a thousand years. In ancient times, Chumporn was a strategic military site and the center of an ancient civilization. This is probably the reason why Chumporn is very resourceful and versatile.
The port city of Chumphon covers a total area of 6,009 square kilometers with a long coastline of 222 kilometers. Its boundary reaches Prachuap Khiri Khan in the North, the Gulf of Thailand in the East, Surat Thani in the South and Ranong and Myanmar in the West. Geographically, its landscape is alternate plains and mountains. Coconut, rambutan, durian, mangosteen, banana, and pineapple are some varieties of fruits densely grown on eastern plains.
Chumphon is a quiet seaside town and has not yet been developed as a large tourism destination. Those who come to Chumphon can not only admire the more than 40 islands, but can also learn about the Thai lifestyle, whilst experiencing nature. Several alternative activities such as rafting and agrotourism are cheaper here than at other more famous tourism destinations. The dive sites of Chumphon are far from shore, but are still accessible by boat within one hour. Visibility is better here than at dive sites in the east. The most abundant growth of black corals in Thailand and the Whale Shark, which always visits at the beginning of summer, attract divers to Chumphon. Honeymoon couples or families can dive, whilst others enjoy activities on shore.
Being the first southern province to be reached from every other part of the country, Chumphon is regarded as a gateway through which southbound visitors will have to pass before continuing on their routes to the western or eastern coasts. Chumphon is not only famed for its abundant seafood, but also known as a province of succulent fruits with various marvelous attractions like beaches, islands, forests and caves. You may not realized that Chumporn has a total of 47 big and small offshore islands off its coast. For those divers and beach lovers, the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan are exactly what they are looking for beacause of their white sand beaches, crystal water and stunningly beautiful underwater world.
We're ideally situated on Thatapao Road just a five-minute walk from the Chumphon train station and bus station, close to shops, banks, and markets. Most places in the city are walkable from here, but of course we can always get you a taxi to your destination, or you can rent a motorbike from us.
